Job Description 

Drive the development of EPG Health Media business by leading the delivery of an efficient, innovative, effective, and profitable service on client accounts and projects.

Key areas of responsibility 

  • Ensure all roles and responsibilities are clearly defined at the start of the project, and that this information is relayed to all members of the project team and the client
  • Involve relevant individuals in team meetings and discussions, to ensure that client business needs are optimally addressed.
  • Assist in finalising programme activity and budget with client
  • Maintain an overview of programme tactics 
  • Keep abreast of external issues/events/changes in the external environment, and regularly review their impact upon programmes and client objectives
  • Ensure team understanding of client corporate values and personality profiles of individual clients
  • Liaise appropriately with all relevant departments, providing information that may assist them in their day-to-day work
  • Attend client meetings/conferences as required
  • Provide regular status reports to client about ongoing projects
  • Ensure knowledge of client personnel and client’s business environment

Financial management

  • Establish and confirm financial arrangements with client and ensure these are adhered to at all times
  • Maintain awareness of financial status of accounts at all times and ensure this is accurately reported at business plan meetings as requested by senior managers
  • Ensure invoices are dispatched on time and in accordance with the client/project agreement
  • Approve all project reconciliations on assigned accounts

Business development 

  • Drive internal brainstorming for account expansion and account development planning
  • Prepare pitches and proposals for additional business opportunities with existing clients
  • Up-selling: identifying additional activities with existing clients that add value to client and EPGHM
  • Cross-selling: networking with the client organization to acquire new projects/accounts outside current spec (could be in conjunction with Business Development team)
  • Renewals: keep abreast of all renewals date and opportunities in order to secure them

Line Management 

  • For direct line reports, take responsibility for management of attendance (holiday, sickness, training, off-site meetings, etc.)
  • Lead and motivate supervised staff to fulfil their potential and assume responsibility and accountability appropriate to their position
  • Conduct appraisal interviews and monitor appraisal objectives, recommending training where required
  • Participate in interviewing new staff, where appropriate
  • Keep accurate written records of all personnel incidents and performance issues

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to be the hands-on leader of multiple accounts/projects to deliver them profitably
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, combined with thorough understanding of the commercial drivers of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a medical education agency

  • Evidence of delivery of revenue targets, growing existing business and ensuring annual renewal of contracts

Professional experience 

  • More than 3 years of multidisciplinary experience from a relevant industry sector
  • International experience, for example, collaborations with non-UK partners (commercial and academic)
  • Knowledge of medical communications, digital publishing / media, and pharmaceutical medical / marketing
  • Knowledge of related areas within medical, regulatory and digital marketing
  • Track record in managing client relationship and achieving organic growth
  • Extensive experience with management of clients
